How to Enter the Contest
Read The Girls Club Journal: Beauty Unmasked. You can download a free copy of Chapter 1 or purchase a copy of the book. We encourage you to give thought to the discussion questions after each short story and complete the creative writing exercises at the end of each chapter. They will help prepare you for the contest!
Choose a theme from one of the stories in The Girls Club Journal (e.g. colorism, gender roles, bullying, teen pregnancy, faith, etc.) and lead a community project around your chosen theme. Your project should inspire girls to expand how they think about themselves or others. There is no limit to what your project can be—you could host a discussion at your church, organize an awareness campaign on social media or lead a community service activity at your school. If you need ideas, join us for our Expanding Minds Application Tips Webinar on January 26th at 10:00 AM.
Visit the Girls Club Membership Portal to submit your contest application. Please note, you will need to join the Girls Club to have full access to our portal and to be eligible for the contest. Membership into the Girls Club is free, and it usually takes our team 3-5 business days to process your application and create your portal login credentials. The contest applications will open January 8, 2019 and all entries are due April 1, 2019 by 11:59 PM EST.
Who can participate in the contest?
The contest is open to all Girls Club members: 7th - 12th grade girls, educators, nonprofit leaders, and Girls Club mentors.
